Each year around this time,
the Florida Homes Builders Association (FHBA) calls its members to Tallahassee to talk
about issues affecting us with legislators as they decide what becomes law.
Somewhere in the bustle of committee meetings and language revisions,
legislators around the Tampa Bay region took time to meet with us last month.
We enjoyed having meaningful conversations with Senators Brandes, Latvala and
Lee on topics like building codes, growth management and funding for the Future
Builders of America (FBA). During the trip, we also had the opportunity to sit down
with NAHB CEO Jerry Howard and discuss a myriad of issues they are actively
working on including GSE Reform, Immigration and consumer access to credit. We were
also treated by Rep. Rayburn and Rep. Grant to a private, guided tour of
the Senate Chamber!
It was a great couple of days. If you didn’t have a chance to come with us, hope you can make
the trip next year.
